Julien Lawes

Julien is the qualified LTA Tennis Head Coach at Weymouth Tennis Club, gaining his Level 1 Development Coach Award in 2006 quickly followed by his Club Coach award in 2007. He regularly attends new courses to keep up to date and ensure every player is able to reach their full potential. He is pleased to be able to offer the very latest with Cardio Tennis now on offer at the club.

Julien also has a Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Sports Development and Fitness which he achieved in 2004 through Weymouth College. Julien’s enthusiasm for sport, fitness and exercise is second to none.
 
Julien also works for Wey Valley School as Community Tennis Coach through which he visits 10 local Primary Schools delivering tennis as part of the National Curriculum and introducing players to Weymouth Tennis Club.
 
As the coaching team has grown over the past few years, Julien's role as Head Coach has changed dramatically.  His main priority is  focusing on producing, developing and maintaining a high quality of performance palyers which will put Weymouth Tennis Club on the map.  In addition, the team contiually works closely with West Hants (High Performance Centre Bournemouth) under the guidance of Shane Deacon, Head of Mini Tennis.
 
Julien is dedicated to the Club’s coaching programme to ensure there is something for everyone from complete beginners to high performance players age 4 to 60+. He aims to provide first class tuition educating you in safe, efficient and fun sessions to help you improve your game.

Chris Penny

Chris has been involved in mini tennis for many years and is happy to now see the children of former pupils sharing their parent's and her love of the game.  Her experience and expertise are invaluable to the Junior Section of Weymouth Tennis Club.  She is still happy to be involved in the grass roots of the game on a Saturday morning, pay and play sessions and the chances are if you enter a competition in Weymouth or Dorchester she will be running it! She can also been seen further afield running both County and Regional events in the South West.

Chris Westhead 

Chris gained a BTEC First Diploma followed by National in Sport's development, coaching & fitness at Weymouth College, coaching part-time whilst studying. He has been playing tennis since he was 8 years old at Weymouth Tennis Club. 

Chris has Level 1 & 2 Coaching Assistant qualifications and recently completed his Club Coach Course. In 2012 he hopes to become an under 10 specialist coach, currently coaching age 3 to adult players. He enjoys teaching children, ensuring they have fun whilst also improving their tennis skills at the same time.  He works closely with Julien and the other coaches to maintain a high standard of coaching.

Matt Eaton 

Matt has recently completed a degree in sports coaching at UWIC in Cardiff. He also holds level 1 and 2 Coaching Assistant qualifications and is currently undertaking the Club Coach Award.

Matt began playing tennis at Weymouth when he was 6 years old. He volunteered  to assist with coaching at the club at the age of 15 and  thoroughly enjoyed it, so decided to continue to become a qualified coach.  He is continuing to  train at a higher level to improve the quality of coaching he can deliver.

He is currently involved with coaching a variety of abilities and ages ranging from 3 years old to adults.

Matt is continually looking to improve as a coach in order to get the best out of the players he coaches and to ensure his players are continually developing whilst they have as much fun as possible.

Ryan Bissett

Ryan is finishing his studies at Weymouth College and hoping to become a full-time  coach - he has taken his Level 1 & 2 qualifications and furthur training is planned.
